After last year’s announcements from AMC confirmed that Preacher would be renewed for a second season, fans of the show have been waiting eagerly for word on what to expect out of the newest episodes. After the new series’ freshman efforts both surprised and delighted critics everywhere (the show currently sits at 89% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes), it’s no surprise that this strange and frankly hilarious supernatural adventure has been green-lit for a second season.

Now, as we wait for the show to pick up where it left off, AMC has released a teaser trailer for the second season, highlighting the adventures and mayhem Jesse Custer and company have in store for them. As is expected, the promo trailer is just as quirky as we expect, as Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy sing along to the video’s soundtrack of “Come On Eileen” by Dexys Midnight Runners. As you can see, the show’s sense of humor has not abated during the hiatus, though fans now have a chance to see the show actually delve into the plot of the graphic novel. The previous season went a different route by exploring more backstory of the characters, which doesn’t seem to have affected the show’s popularity at all. However, as much as we love seeing Jesse and crew encounter such strange oddities as a man in a dalmatian costume and the return of Arseface, it’s wise to remember that there are dangers lurking for Jesse, as his ability to command others to do his bidding has made him a target for unsavory villains, including the Saint of Killers. Looks like there’s trouble ahead for Preacher!

It’s going to be a wild ride, as we finally catch up with the source material for this beloved comic series. This couldn’t come at a better time, as fans are still reeling over the death of Steve Dillon, the co-creator of the Preacher comics. It’s good to finally get a chance to see the source material played out on screen, so we’ll definitely be watching as they pay homage to the late writer and his incredible work. Preacher season 2 premiers on Sunday, June 25th, so make sure you catch up on any episodes you might have missed out on before then!
