One of the biggest television shows to find popularity thanks to the new era of streaming services is Breaking Bad. Now widely considered to be one of the greatest television series to ever air, the show actually struggled to find a solid audience on AMC until the show become popular thanks to its availability on Netflix. The series has since found enough popularity to be heavily merchandised, but aside from the promise of a VR game, there has been no official Breaking Bad video game. However, it seems that will now change with the announcement of a new Breaking Bad mobile game.

The Hollywood Reporter has shared the announcement of the new Breaking Bad mobile game. Titled Breaking Bad: Criminal Elements, it will be developed by Plamee and published by FTX Games. It will be a free-to-play strategy-based game for mobile platforms. Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan had this to say about the new project:

[FTX Games] care as much about the details as our creative team, and I have been very impressed with their commitment to building an authentic extension of the series’ story universe. I think this will be a fun experience for fans, to interact with characters from Breaking Bad in a completely new way.”

FTX Games has promised that series protagonists Walter White and Jesse Pinkman will be in the game, and players will encounter other familiar allies and enemies, including Gus Fring, Saul Goodman and Mike Ehrmantraut. Few other details about gameplay have been given, but it does sound like players will be encouraged to build and expand their criminal empires, while dealing with “moral dilemmas and volatile personalities.” This will be a great return of the iconic characters and elements from the show, many of which have not been seen in official capacities since the series ended in 2013. The game is coming later this year, and let us hope that it is indeed The One Who Rocks. Or, Minerals (sorry, Hank).
