Two Pokémon Games Debut On Facebook Gaming Platform

The Pokémon franchise has long since evolved past its roots as a classic RPG series on Nintendo’s Game Boy. The series has not only introduced a long-running anime adventure as well as a popular card game but has also led to numerous spin-off titles taking place within a variety of different genres and platforms–including the likes of consoles and mobile devices. Two new games have now arrived for fans to enjoy, this time being released as exclusives for the social media giant, Facebook.

Available on Facebook Gaming today, Pokémon Tower Battle pits two players against each other in a stacking game to see who can build the tallest and most stable tower of creatures. To play, players must attempt to keep their tower from tipping over, with the last tower standing being proclaimed the winner. This first title is on the simple side, but the second title appears to bring a little more depth to the table.

On the other hand, Pokémon Medallion Battle is a card game that sees collect Pocket Monsters in the form of medallions, where players can train, challenge gyms, and fill out their Pokedex. In addition, a recent report suggests the game will also introduce new Pokémon every month for players to discover and catch for themselves. As of writing, Medallion Battle is only available to play in the Asia-Pacific region, but it’s unknown when the game might be coming elsewhere.

Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara recently extended a warm welcome to the two new titles in a press release claiming that they’ll hopefully be able to reach a completely new audience across the entire world. “Launching these games through Facebook will allow people all over the world to experience Pokémon in digital form, and we are especially thrilled to collaborate with Facebook Gaming in enabling new audiences to enjoy Pokémon games online,” the statement read.

Pokémon Tower Battle is now available on Facebook Instant Games, though it’s unknown when Pokémon Medallion Battle will be out worldwide.
