Language Pokemon Theme

Another February 27th has come, which has become recognized by The Pokemon Company as Pokemon Day. This special day is acknowledged for February 27th because the first Pokemon games, Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green (later released as Pokemon Blue), were first released in Japan on February 27th, 1996. One of the most iconic and creatively re-interpreted elements of Pokemon recognized around the globe is the Pokemon anime series theme song.

To celebrate the 22nd anniversary of the series, the Pokemon Company has released a new multi-language Pokemon theme song video has been released, highlighting the presence the series has had worldwide.

The Pokemon Company released the tweet seen above on Pokemon Day with video on their official Twitter account. The video plays the iconic opening title sequence from the original Pokemon anime series, but with an added twist on the classic theme song. The popular tune, also known as “Gotta Catch ‘Em All,” has become synonymous to many with the franchise as a whole, even outside of the anime series. The video starts off with the English version performed by Jason Paige, as originally written by John Siegler and John Loeffler, but is then shown in several other languages as well.

The song’s lyrics as they progress switch between many different translations, including French, Italian, German, Croatian, as well as multiple dialects of Spanish and Portuguese. It’s quite lovely to see just how far a reach the electric rat and his pals have had in our world’s various regions. Happy Birthday, Pokemon, and may you continue on for many more evolutions.
