Pokemon Legends: Arceus Found Footage Feels Blair Witchy (VIDEO)

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Found Footage

Pokemon has had a big year, and the next few months will be just as momentous for the franchise. After celebrating their 25th anniversary, Pokemon has a big slate schedule, with remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl coming at the end of the year, and the brand new Pokemon Legends: Arceus coming early next year. While it was recently confirmed to not be a fully open-world game, the new Pokemon title will still feel like a vastly more expansive game than ever before. Now, a new Pokemon Legends: Arceus found footage trailer gives off some creepy, Blair Witch Project-like vibes.

The Pokemon Company has released their new Pokemon Legends: Arceus found footage trailer on their official YouTube channel. The video consists of grainy “found footage” recordings much like those seen in films like Paranormal Activity or The Blair Witch Project. The trailer features the narration of an unnamed Pokemon trainer/researcher out in the field recording their discoveries on a video capture device. The narrator acknowledges the oddness of the device’s existence, as the game takes place in the feudal-era (for the Pokemon world) of the Hisui region, which will one day become the Sinnoh region. The researcher is able to find some wild Snorunt, with them being just barely visible on-screen.

Pokémon Presents Legends Arceus

The Pokemon Legends: Arceus found footage follows up by having the researcher explore further into the snowy woods. They come across a mysterious Pokemon that they at first mistake for a Growlithe, and then a Vulpix. The Pokemon is described as having a red-tipped tail, yellow eyes and fluffy white fur on its head and around its neck. The Pokemon isn’t seen, but suddenly, the researcher is implied to be attacked and knocked out off-camera. This would seem to reflect how trainers can face danger to themselves in this new game when encountering Pokemon in the wild, unlike previous games. Pokemon Legends: Arceus has previously shown it will be quite a different game for the series, and this video certainly sets the tone for it having more dangerous stakes. But if you gotta catch ’em all, you gotta catch ’em all. Right?
