Pokémon Café Mix Revealed for Nintendo Switch And Mobile (VIDEO)
While it’s been a while since The Pokémon Company last held a reveal event regarding the popular franchise, such an absence was undoubtedly redeemed with the recently concluded Pokémon Presents livestream. Alongside the resurgence of Pokémon Snap, one of the highlights from the presentation was the reveal of Pokémon Café Mix, a colorful puzzle title coming to Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
Presenting the premise of a busy restaurant, Pokémon Café Mix tasks players with matching and swirling various Poké-icons to assemble drinks and dishes for customers. As players progress, new Pokémon employees are able to join the café staff, bringing with them special Café Skills that aim to help make puzzle-solving that much easier. As more and more puzzles are completed, players can also develop friendship levels with specific critters and even upgrade the café itself to encourage new Poké-business to pour in.
Pokémon Café Mix is set to release for Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch on June 23rd, with pre-registration available now for all platforms. The title is touted as a “free-to-start” title, suggesting microtransactions will be involved somewhere during the course of the game. However, as Prima Games points out, it looks as though Nintendo plans to take it easy on pay-to-win mechanics, with the game’s official Switch listing describing in-game purchases as “optional.”
