Overwatch New Character Teaser Decoded (VIDEO)

Blizzard Entertainment recently dropped a teaser that has the gumshoes of the Internet searching high and low for clues regarding the next hero coming to Overwatch. That said, our very own Matt Ruppert tackled the teaser by decoding it, and something interesting indeed was discovered.

The teaser that was released is short and sweet. It is a clip of somebody (eyes on you, Sombra) hacking into a terminal to recover a communications record of Captain Cuerva, in which the character discusses the operation to recover, or eliminate, one Jean-Baptiste Augustin. Baptiste is who many believe will be the next Overwatch hero, and all of the evidence is pointing to this being the case. For a refresher, here’s the teaser:

At the beginning of the clip, we can see several lines of hexadecimal code. When converted, the code is mostly nonsense, save for one word: Baptiste.

Now, we don’t know about you, but all of this is sounding a whole lot like Baptiste is poised to be hero 30 in Overwatch. Of course, as it is with any information like this, we recommend keeping the salt nearby at all times. Until Blizzard and the Overwatch team decided to give us all of the glorious details, we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, it was totally Sombra who carried out the hack. Her logo appears flashes in one of the latter frames in the clip above.

While it really looks like the ex-Talon healer will be joining the fight, we just won’t know until Blizzard makes it known. Until then, keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as we learn more about Overwatch’s next hero, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:

What say you, gamers? Do you believe this pretty much confirms Baptiste as hero 30, or is it all a ruse? What exactly does Blizzard have going on behind the scenes? Sound off in the comments section below, and be sure to follow DFTG on Twitter for live gaming and entertainment news 24/7!
