Hilarious ‘Once Upon a Deadpool’ Trailer Features a Kidnapped Fred Savage (VIDEO)

Deadpool Trailer

One of the biggest success stories at the box office this past summer was the sequel to the highly praised Deadpool film. Deadpool 2 proved that Ryan Reynold’s take on the hyper-violent mercenary could hold its own in the cinema opposite the likes of The Avengers and Star Wars. One reason these films are so beloved by fans is their devotion to the mature humor that Deadpool is known for in the comics, which made many afraid that Fox would alter this to make the films more successful with wider audience demographics. While luckily the Deadpool films retained their bawdy humor, we will now see what a PG-13 verison of Deadpool 2 looks like, starting with the new Once Upon a Deadpool trailer.

The trailer looks to capitalize on the Christmas season AND 80s nostalgia by acknowledging the film’s holiday release and by including Fred Savage. It seems that Deadpool wanted to tell his story by paying homage to The Princess Bride. Deadpool supposedly kidnapped Fred Savage to read the story to him like Peter Falk did as his on-screen grandfather in The Princess Bride.

This new PG-13 version of Deadpool 2 also promises new footage shot specifically for this release of the film. On top of that, Fox has also confirmed that a portion of the proceeds will be donated to F*** Cancer, a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing and curing cancer. Fittingly, the organization has agreed to be temporarily renamed Fudge Cancer for this film’s somewhat censored release. It will be interesting to see how this version of Deadpool 2 fares at the box office, but for this humorous Princess Bride allusion and charity beneficiary, it certainly seems worth the fudging effort. What do you guys think about the Once Upon a Deadpool Trailer?
