Oh, Snap! Pokémon Snap is Available on the Wii U Virtual Console

Pokemon Snap

The fan-favorite Nintendo 64 game, Pokémon Snap, has arrived on a Nintendo Wii U near you! The photography-based game made its way to the North American Virtual Console today, nearly five months after it was released in Europe, and a full nine months after Japan.

Gameplay for Pokémon Snap follows the player’s safari on a mysterious island as they take photos of the local Pocket Monsters for Professor Oak. Points are awarded based on the quality and uniqueness of a photograph. Those who played 2016’s Pokémon Sun and/or Moon might be familiar with some of these elements in the form of the two games’ Poké Finder feature.

Pokemon Snap Charmanders

When Pokémon Snap was released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, it was a huge hit, selling over a million copies. It was later re-released on the original Wii’s Virtual Console back in 2007. Those who still own the Wii version of the game can play it without purchase through the Wii U’s ‘Wii Menu’ application, but this version lacks support for either the Wii U GamePad or Pro Controller.

Pokémon Snap for the Wii U is currently available on the Nintendo Virtual Console for $9.99.

Are you going to pick up Pokémon Snap? Are you a fan of Pokémon in general? Or do you prefer the company of DoFémon? Well, you should, because DoFémon are Don’t Feed the Gamers monsters, and I hear those guys are awesome. Also, I just made it up.
