No More Heroes Dev Teases 3 New IPs, Wants Deadpool Game
The gaming industry has many beloved visionary game developers, with one of the quirkiest, yet revered auteurs in the medium being Suda51. Under his Grasshopper Manufacture development studio, Suda 51 has created some of the most unique games in the past two decades. Easily his most popular projects have been in the No More Heroes games, which originally won over fans on the Nintendo Wii with its beam katana action. As fans have been gearing up for the long-awaited No More Heroes III, which was recently released, the No More Heroes dev has been eager to suggest his plans for the future.
No More Heroes dev Suda51 recently spoke with IGN Japan in a new livestream that can be seen on their official YouTube channel. With the launch of No More Heroes III falling last week, Suda51 confirmed in a Twitter statement that the game marks the end of the No More Heroes story. As such, many have wondered what new projects Suda51 will be helping to bring to life with this major period of his career now apparently closing. When asked about his next projects, here’s what Suda51 had to say:
“The broad answer is we already have a lot of products that are in development and over the next 10 years we have three original IPs that we’re working on and we have already planned out. So you can definitely look forward to a lot of new, interesting original IPs from Grasshopper. We also of course have other plans and are working hard on them to bring them to fruition.”
When speaking about potential passion projects he’d love to work on, Suda51 strongly suggested that making a Marvel game would be high on his list. He believes that characters like Shatterstar, Deadpool, or even Quicksilver might lend themselves well to the Grasshopper-type of game structure. Suda51 has proven to be quite versatile with the types of game stories he is able to tell, and his aesthetic would certainly vibe nicely with the world of Marvel. Hopefully, Suda51 gets that opportunity soon. Who wouldn’t want to see a Shatterstar game where enemies are bloodily dismembered?
