Nioh 2 And More Reveals Planned By Koei Tecmo In 2019
Earlier this year, Koei Tecmo revealed Nioh 2 during E3 2018, the sequel to the titular original game that released in 2017. This action-RPG set in the warring period of Japan received rave reviews for its combat and formidable enemies. It’s challenging in terms of combat and there’s lots of loot to be had as well. Heading into 2019 with a sequel, the company has multiple reveals in store as 2018 approaches its end.
Nioh director Fumihiko Yasuda told Japanese media outlet 4Gamer (via Twinfinite) that they’re hammering away at the sequel’s development and more information may be on its way in early 2019. Meanwhile, Koei Techmo president Hisashi Koinuma says there are plenty of others reveals on the way as well. There are a couple other titles in the works at the studio, including Attack on Titan 2 and an undisclosed game currently under wraps.
Koei Tecmo’s Kou Shibusawa told interviewers that artificial intelligence is a feature of interest for the future of the company, and they would like to create a unique game created with AI. Since they recently joined hands with AI development company HEROZ, perhaps 2019 will be the year they announced a title together.
If that wasn’t enough news, Dyanasty Warriors 9 producer Akihiro Suzuki says they’ll be improving their development strategy based on the aforementioned title he and his team created. Though a sequel has not been confirmed, there will be reveals for the series in 2019 as well. Additionally, the producer for Warriors Orochi 4 has “new things” planned for next year, but he wouldn’t reveal any details on that front.
