Nintendo Responds To 'Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword' Switch Rumors

It wasn’t long ago when the internet was ablaze with speculation regarding The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, with many believing the 2011 Wii title was next to get the remastered treatment for the Nintendo Switch. Rumors first sparked when series producer Eiji Aonuma seemingly teased the game’s resurgence, but it turns out may not be the case after all.

Releasing a statement with Eurogamer, Nintendo confirmed that they “have no plans” to release a Switch port of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. In only a few words, Big N would seem to douse any and all speculation regarding the subject, at least for the time being.

At this time we have no plans to release The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on Nintendo Switch.”

The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword May Be Headed To Nintendo Switch

This negative outcome is an undeniable bummer for switch users, especially as the title would surely fit in well on Nintendo’s hybrid system. ‘Skyward Sword’ was the first Zelda title to implement motion controls, a feature the Switch proudly boasts with the inclusion of Joy Con controllers. Perhaps fans will eventually see the cloud-covered adventure on Nintendo’s current console, but right now doesn’t seem to be the time.

Of course, we won’t have long to once again see The Legend of Zelda on Switch, as several characters from the long-running franchise are set to appear in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf are confirmed fighters in the crossover roster, with the trio, as well as the rest of the roster, sporting numerous different versions of each character.
