Aside from the hefty, hefty, hefty roster that Super Smash Bros Ultimate will be sporting, there are easter eggs, game modes, and other features to discover – the latter of which include a system called Spirits. Introduced in the coming 2018 title, Nintendo brings on a new feature called Spirits to offer characters boosts of powers and abilities during combat. It certainly kicks the challenge up a notch. While there isn’t a compiled list of available Spirits in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, there’s one thing that’s for certain – Detective Pikachu has been confirmed.

The good folks over at VG247 provide a hands-on look, diving into the various modes feature in the game including World of Light, single-player, and Spirit Board. Seen at 6:05 minutes in, Detective Pikachu is featured on the target list of the Spirit Board. Among the electric P.I. is X Parasite, Alolan Exegguto, Tetra, Elma, Oshawat, and many others. Still unsure about what Spirits are in Super Smash Bros Ultimate? They are “game characters with abilities that can give your fighters a boost in battle.” Players can borrow special abilities from two Spirit types – Primary and Support – to increase attack power, wield an empowered jump, an additional weapon, immunity against impairments, and much more. To gather new spirits, players must consult the Spirit Board and defeat their opponents. Pretty neat right?

While you won’t be fight as Detective Pikachu anytime soon, the sass will be concentrated in the animated and live-action film starring Ryan Reynolds. There’s also a furry Jigglypuff singings its sleep tunes per usual. Oh, Jiggles, when will you learn?
