Mario Tennis Aces Reveals New Characters Luma, Boom-Boom, And Pauline (VIDEO)

It appears that Mario Tennis Aces, the latest game in the popular Mario Tennis series, is officially getting three new characters! Recently announced over on the official Nintendo Japan YouTube account, Mario Tennis Aces will soon be adding Luma, Boom Boom, and Pauline, the mayor of New Donk City, to its ever growing roster. The reveal was made within a brief trailer which can be seen below:

According to Nintendo, the three new characters will be coming to the game in the first quarter of 2019, so players will get to test them out likely between January and March. It should be noted that the characters have yet to be officially announced for the West, though it is likely only a matter of time. Additionally, all three characters are free DLC for Mario Tennis Aces. Luma, Boom Boom, and Pauline join Birdo, the latest character (and series mainstay) to join the roster.

There currently isn’t much to know about the new characters, other than their player types. Per Nintendo, Luma is Technique, Boom Boom is Defense, and Pauline is Speed. We’ve no idea what their Special Shot animations are like either, as only their entrances are shown in the trailer. That said, chances are we’ll see more about the new characters as 2019 approaches.

Mario Tennis Aces is now available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
