The Nintendo Switch’s Touchscreen Finally Sees the Light of Day (VIDEO)
When the Nintendo Switch was announced in October, the hype train had all but left the station. In such a short amount of time, the love for the new console has grown immensely, and we still have over a month until launch! Outside of the Switch event that was held a couple weeks ago, details have been slowly coming in, giving us more of an idea of what the new Nintendo console is capable of. One thing that has eluded the eyes of the masses, however, is the touchscreen capabilities. We knew it had a touchscreen, but we had yet to see what it looks like while being used. Until now, that is.
But look at him… he’s touching that damn screen.”
YouTuber GamingWithMe shared a video on his channel of when he and a friend went to the New York Nintendo Switch event. In it, they experience what the Switch has to offer. Its easy to remove Joy-Cons, the quickness of the switch from handheld to TV, and the exciting games were all on full display in the nearly 15 minute video. What else can be seen in the video, as they venture into the Skylanders Imaginators section, is someone using the touchscreen. This had never been seen before, so it is understandable to become a little excited. Even Robert(GamingWithMe), in his narration, is astonished. “But look at him… he’s touching that damn screen,” he says. The touchscreen can be seen in action six minutes and 19 seconds into the video below:
It has yet to be revealed whether or not the touchscreen will serve as anything more than a way to scroll through menus with ease. Like Robert points out in the video, it’s unknown if the touchscreen will be available on all games. The jury is still out on what exactly the touchscreen has to offer, but we sure are glad to see it in action! We will know more in the coming weeks leading up to the Nintendo Switch’s launch on March 3.
What do you say, gamers? Are you excited to see the Nintendo Switch’s touchscreen used for the first time? Do you hope it functions inside of games, bringing another layer of immersion to your experience, or would you rather it be strictly for menu navigation? Sound off in the comments section below!
