Nintendo Switch Online Launch Window Confirmed For Later This Year
Since Summer 2017, it was revealed that Nintendo Switch Online wasn’t always going to be free, having listed membership rates and information last year. Based on previous updates from Nintendo, it was projected that 2018 would bring more features to online memberships, but there wasn’t exactly a window or date to confirm this until now.
Announcing the big reveal on Twitter, the publisher stated that the Nintendo Switch Online feature will launch this September 2018. Though that’s still quite a ways away, and without a specific date in tow, there’s quite a bit left unknown. It was revealed last year that the service will host a lobby and voice chat for online players. There will also be a classic game selection that includes titles such as Super Mario Bros. 3, Balloon Fight, and Dr Mario.
All of the aforementioned will then become a membership-only privilege. As many others, the Nintendo Switch Online service will be available at a monthly rate and likely for reasonable prices. Addressed in previous reports, month-by-month subscriptions will run $3.99 a month, whereas players deciding to bundle with 3 months or a year, the costs are available at a slightly better rate of $7.99 and $12.99 respectively. Compared to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, they’re quite reasonable. Prices may vary per region.
