While the world has been utterly shaken by the recent coronavirus pandemic, The Last of Us fans had still been able to find distraction in their favorite post-apocalyptic franchise–even if it feels eerily similar to real-life events. The promise of The Last of Us Part II nearing completion gave many gamers a long-awaited title to look forward to after this current pandemic subsides. Unfortunately, the news recently revealed that due to the outbreak, the release date for Part II would be delayed. In a move that will likely help ease this blow, Naughty Dog has now released several new The Last of Us Part II screenshots.

As reported on PlayStation Lifestyle, Naughty Dog revealed several new The Last of Us Part II screenshots saved from a PS4 Pro. The screenshots mainly focus on the sequel’s protagonist Ellie, along with several new looks at in-game scenes. The shots appear to take place at different points in the game’s timeline, as Ellie has a cut on her chin in some, but not in others. The cut seems to have formed into a scar in one particularly heartwarming screenshot where she is seen cuddling in bed with Dina.

Other screenshots put a focus on Joel, who also appears to be seen in different time points. Compared to other times we’ve seen him, the character has noticeably longer hair in one shot where he is seen talking with Ellie. This scene appears to be emotionally gripping for the duo, which is to be expected given how the first Last of Us game ended. Another shot also shows Ellie with Joel’s brother Tommy, who supposedly seems to be getting along with Ellie better than his brother.

Hopefully, we can get to know more about these screenshots soon. Despite what recent news may imply, Naughty Dog has confirmed that the game is essentially complete, with the release delayed for mostly logistical reasons. It will only take overcoming one pandemic before we head back into the world of another.
