New South Park Game Coming As A Result Of $900 Million Deal With ViacomCBS
As entertainment companies continue to grow their platforms and entice new customers and subscribers, the most in-demand of content and their creators warrant major deals. Netflix has notably signed multi-million dollar deals for big name talent and creators like Megan Markle, Prince Harry and even Barack and Michelle Obama. After having been an early pioneer to stream their show online, South Park has become one of the most iconic forces to survive on television the past few decades. This success has led South Park to expand into other media forms, including video games. Now, a new South Park game has been confirmed to be coming as a result of a multi-million dollar deal for the series’s creators.
As reported by Game Informer, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have signed a new $900 million deal with ViacomCBS. The deal not only serves as an extension of their ongoing contract with the media giant to produce the original South Park animated series for Comedy Central for six more seasons, but also as an opportunity for Parker and Stone to create South Park projects for other platforms. This will include 14 original South Park spinoff movies to be released exclusively on ViacomCBS’s Paramount+ streaming service. According to reports, Parker and Stone plan on using some of their substantial payment to help fund a new South Park game.
Little is known about what this new South Park game will be like, except that it will reportedly be in 3D. This would strike quite the opposition to the latest South Park consoles games, The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole, that used a 2D art style keeping true to the animated series’ visual format. It is also not known if Parker and Stone will still partner with Ubisoft, who helped develop and publish those previous games. Whatever form the new game takes, with two of entertainment’s most creative and warped minds behind it, it will certainly have people feeling as high as Towelie himself.
