New Marvel Game In The Works From Former Hearthstone Devs

There’s been a notable shift in the gaming industry as of late. While it’s hard to pinpoint a cause if there is one, developers are making big moves elsewhere. Take the former executive producer for Hearthstone, for example, who is now moving onto an entirely different team to create a brand new Marvel game in pursuit of heroic undertakings.

Hamilton Chu and Ben Brode, both known for their work as executive producer and game director for Blizzard’s online card game, collaborated with several other former Blizzard employees to create an independent studio called Second Dinner. Together with investments from NetEase, they’ll be creating a new title for Marvel and it’s about to be a big one. With $30 million dollars of financial backing, all teammates involved are about to take on one colossal endeavor.

In a press release, Chu says:

In all likelihood, this will be the best game ever made. I made a spreadsheet so I’m pretty sure. It’s going to take us a while to make, but we’re already having a lot of fun with the prototype. We can’t wait to show it to the people who we interview as candidates. Coincidentally, people should check out the new jobs we just posted.”

In addition to that, EVP and Head of Marvel Games at Marvel Entertainment, Jay Ong, states: “I’ve worked with Hamilton and Ben for years and they are exactly who we want making Marvel games. They and the team they’ve assembled at Second Dinner have made some of the greatest games in history. And now, working with the Marvel Games team and playing in the Marvel Universe… It’s going to be Amazing! Or maybe Spectacular! Or Incredible! Or Mighty! Or quite possibly all of the above!”

Furthermore, NetEase is confident in the studio’s goals and believes their “strong track record” will prove worthwhile. “The Second Dinner team has a strong track record of delivering quality games,” said NetEase VP, Ethan Wang. “With the resources and creative freedom they now have, we look forward to what they will come up with next.”

That’s certainly positive news to hear! As a matter of fact, for those interested in developing a game alongside former Hearthstone devs, Second Dinner is now hiring – so jump on board!
