Is Infinity Ward Teasing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4?

Modern Warfare 4

Players have been enjoying Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 since its release, but many are already starting to wonder what this year’s franchise entry is going to be. Infinity Ward will be handling 2019’s CoD title, and a recent teaser may point to Modern Warfare 4.

Infinite Warfare was their latest contribution to the series, and while it did fairly well, it wasn’t exactly a game that stood above the rest. That said, they might be returning to one of the most popular series within the franchise for 2019, and fans are getting excited.

The teaser in question was posted by community manager Ashton Williams on Twitter recently. It features a skull with glowing eyes with an effect to make it look like a static-filled image one would see on TV. No words were tweeted alongside the GIF, but many jumped to the first thing that came to mind – Ghosts 2. Others, however, jumped on the Modern Warfare 4 bandwagon.

Here are some of the reactions that are filled with speculation and humor:

However, there is one important piece of the puzzle that helps support the Modern Warfare 4 theories. Kotaku’s Jason Schreier recently took to Resetera to simply state, “It ain’t Ghosts 2!” This could mean any number of things, but fans are pretty sure that MW4 is on the way.

Of course, this could just be Williams posting another spooky GIF, as she has often done in the past on Twitter. We’ll just have to wait until Infinity Ward makes any sort of official announcement.
