New Injustice 2 Video Gives You “Everything You Need to Know” About Story and Gameplay (VIDEO)
NetherRealm Studios’ upcoming fighting game Injustice 2 has almost arrived, and as with most large inbound games, it comes with a massive marketing campaign. Numerous videos have surfaced in recent weeks, with special story and character-focused trailers revealing new information about the plot and gameplay, and begin to paint an interesting picture for the DC-inspired title. All of those trailers and pieces of gameplay footage can be a bit intimidating for newcomers to watch all the way through, so NetherRealm has put out something new that summarizes all that knowledge in a single Injustice 2 video, which you can look at below:
Up first is the story, which puts the dark knight detective Batman and a murder-happy Superman at odds with how to dispense justice on the criminals of the world. The Justice League has split up into two factions, where members choose to either be on Batman’s “lock prisoners up” or Superman’s “kill bad guys” side of things. Several villains also create their own counter-squad, The Society, which aims to put down all of the League’s members regardless of their ideology. Taking advantage of all this brutal chaos is the mentally-enhanced Brainiac, who stages a worldwide invasion of the Earth with the help of his endless supply of robotic minions. These large-scale conflicts attract the far reaches of the DC universe into the cause, filling out Injustice 2‘s amazingly big roster.
The Gear system is highlighted next in the Injustice 2 video, detailing the game’s leveling-up and costume customization options. Each battle awards players with points that can be exchanged for statistic upgrades and changes to appearance, adding another layer of depth to the superhero clashes. Also talked about is Injustice 2’s online Multiverse mode, which adds difficulty modifiers to fight stages. The increased challenges are set to change throughout the day so new ones are always available. Forging guilds with other players is another way to participate in specialized challenge modes.
Injustice 2 will be released on May 16 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Shortly after that, we will see the game’s first fighter pack DLC introduce three new characters to the game. Before the main launch, a mobile version of Injustice 2 will come out for Android and iOS on May 11 using a simplified free-to-play model.
