New Gears 5 Enemy Revealed, Meet The Warden
One of the bigger surprises to occur at this year’s E3 Microsoft press conference was the announcement of the fifth core entry in the Gears of War franchise. The game is truly aiming to differentiate itself from previous Gears of War games, both by nixing “Of War” from its title in promotional material so far, and by focusing on female character Kait Diaz. Details about the game like new characters and weapons have been revealed so far by developer The Coalition in pieces, and now they have released a preview of a new Gears 5 enemy type.

The Coalition released a gif of the new Warden enemy in a tweet from the official Gears of War Twitter account. The Warden appears to be a towering large figure with heavy armor and dual crystalized axes that extend into cross formations when brandished for battle. It certainly looks like The Warden will prove to be a proportional challenge for the strong Gears of War heroes fans have come to known so far. Using the blades of a Lancer in a melee attack are probably not going to be a good idea against this new beast.
The release date for Gears 5 is not yet known, but Microsoft has shared that it will release some time in 2019. The Coalition still has plenty of time to reveal more characters, weapons and enemies that will be in the game until then. Hopefully, The Warden doesn’t keep all of these new details, or the game itself, prisoner for too much longer. What do you guys think about this new Gears 5 enemy? Let us know in the comments below!
