National Treasure TV Series Officially Announced For Disney Plus

The Declaration of Independence may just need saving – or stealing – again, as it has been announced that a new National Treasure TV series is officially in development for Disney+. Fans of the actual movies needn’t worry too much, either, as a third National Treasure movie is also in the works that will feature the same cast from the show.

The news comes by way of Collider, which recently spoke with Jerry Bruckheimer about the upcoming TV series. According to Bruckheimer – who is serving as series producer – the script for the show’s pilot has already been completed, and there is “an outline of the future episodes.” That said, it is unlikely that the series will enter into production for some time now given the ongoing pandemic.

In terms of casting, Bruckheimer revealed that the National Treasure show would feature a significantly younger cast, which tells us that Nicholas Cage’s involvement will likely be minimal at best. As mentioned, said cast will also feature in the third movie in the series, which could act as a beacon of hope for those that wish to see the likes of previous protagonist Ben Gates and friends in the film.

According to Bruckheimer, the script for the movie is now being written, so chances are it won’t take too long for us to hear more about the sequel in one form or another.
