Mortal Kombat 11 Trolls Fortnite In Hilarious New Ad (VIDEO)
It being April, Mortal Kombat 11 is now on track to release, stacking quite the kombo of available fighters, relentless gameplay, and a top-tier cinematic story. NetherRealm Studios’ has hyped their latest title through weekly Kombat Kast livestreams as well as an increasing array of trailers; a new entry in the latter category throwing some hilarious shade the way of Epic Games’ popular battle royale title Fortnite.
Recently posted to the r/MortalKombat subreddit, the new commercial was revealed in all its glory, user “InsaneAsura” coming by the video via Instagram. The ad depicts a bright scene where a very Fortnite-ish character boogies away with emotes. However, this dance break is quickly interrupted by Scorpion, the hellish ninja doing away with such goofiness in a single kick. Lightning ensues. Check it out below.
While not expressly mentioning Fortnite, this is a pretty obvious jab at the battle royale game, a harmless and playful one at that. All this hilarity is highlighted by some pretty on-point cosplay, with Reddit comments attributing Scorpion’s performance to the unmistakable Maul Cosplay. Having famously recreated The Witcher’s Geralt and more recently Scorpion, all does seem to point Maul’s direction, especially as an official collaboration with WB was teased fairly recently.
Mortal Kombat 11 hits Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 23rd.
