Minecraft Board Game Announced At MineCon 2019 (VIDEO)

Minecraft has grown immensely since its early days as a building and survival game. The franchise has broken the confines of its original design to move across different genres and platforms such as the upcoming RPG Minecraft Dungeons, the Telltale story-driven adventure, and even an augmented reality title for mobile devices. Now, it seems that the popular building game will be jumping into the physical world with a board game, of all things.

This year’s live MineCon event brought about the reveal of many new features, creatures, and biomes that are coming to the main game as well as some cool stuff featuring the upcoming release of Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Earth, an AR game running in a similar vein to that of Pokemon GO or Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. While they didn’t go into much detail, the event also saw the announcement of the upcoming board game called Minecraft: Builders & Biomes. Thankfully, the German publisher Ravensburger was kind enough to give a little bit more detail.

Players will be exploring the Overworld while taking on mobs and building all the while collecting experience points from building structures and connecting different biomes together. The player with the most points by the time the resource pool is depleted wins, simple yet fun and challenging.

Mine rare cubes, fight dangerous mobs, and build fabulous structures in Minecraft: Builders & Biomes, a Minecraft board game! On your turn, you’ll explore the Overworld, collect weapons, fight mobs, and build structures out of resources mined from a block of 64 cubes. Only the cleverest and most daring crafters have a chance to earn the most points and win the game!”

Minecraft: Builders & Biomes is set to release on October 1st in Europe but will release globally on November 15th. The title can be pre-ordered now through either Amazon or the Minecraft Store.
