Milla Jovovich Shares First Look at Monster Hunter Movie Role
The upcoming Monster Hunter movie adaptation is no longer a pipe dream, as the film has finally entered production and begun filming in South Africa with a $60 million budget designed to bring us some bloody big monsters. Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, the film is set to star Milla Jovovich, who is stepping into the role of Artemis, showing off her acting chops alongside the likes of Ron Perlman, T.I. Harris, and other as yet unannounced cast members.
In celebration of the first day of shooting the Monster Hunter movie, Milla Jovovich shared a post on Instagram with a closeup of her face, revealing the makeup work done to bring Artemis to life for the film. Check it out below:
“First day of filming on #monsterhuntermovie based on the epic game #monsterhunterworld!” Milla’s caption begins. “As you can see my character is glamorous as usual! Here’s the make up progression by the awesome @kerry_skelton_ from beginning of dirt/wounds, to the finished product. I’ve been training for this day since February, so definitely excited to start production! #rangersleadtheway #strongwomen #capetowndiary.”
While there isn’t exactly a ton to unpack here, it is nice to see Milla diving head first into the role. The actor certainly isn’t a stranger to Capcom movie adaptations, with both her and her husband Paul W.S. Anderson being Resident Evil movie veterans. Here’s hoping that the Monster Hunter movie will do a better job at satisfying fans of its series.
Monster Hunter World is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
