Mike Laidlaw Teases BioWare Fans – “Something is Happening With Dragon Age”
Braces yourselves, the resident Dragon Age fanatic here at DFTG is about to drop potential DA news on you courtesy of creative director Mark Laidlaw! If you’re a fan of the fantasy RPG from BioWare, chances are you know that the team behind this franchise loves to tease their fans (and they’re so good at it). In the next phase of dragging our emotions through the void, Laidlaw mentioned that “something is happening with Dragon Age,” on the 1099 podcast recently. Is it finally time?!
It wouldn’t be true Laidlaw style if he just told us what we wanted to know, where’s the fun in that? He did, however, confirm that they are in the process of mass hiring a full staff potentially for the future of the franchise. With the success (and massive scale) of Inquisition, this potentially means amazing things for what’s to come in the world of Thedas.
As I’ve jokingly said, I am the creative director for the Dragon Age franchise and they haven’t fired me yet.”
We’ve had massive hints and downright confirmations of work on Dragon Age, though the progress and state of production is currently unknown to the masses. After Inquisition, there was a major twist to the end of the game that was a definite game changer for what fans know of the lore. We saw the head of the mage vs. templar war, ground-breaking changes to the foundations of Thedas, and some massive shock factor for our Elven friends.
Laidlaw also teased that there are “other things in the process” that he can’t talk about, but his excitement was palpable and bodes well for the future endeavors for him and his team. Interested in what else he had to say? You can listen to the full podcast right here.
