Metro Exodus Roadmap Reveals First Look at Upcoming Expansions
As with previous titles, Metro Exodus tells a dark and foreboding tale set against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic Russia. While the story seems to be winding down to a close that doesn’t mean there isn’t more to be told. Soon players will be able to sink their teeth in more with not one but two upcoming expansions for the latest Metro title.
A recent blog post on the Metro Exodus website reveals the plans the team at 4A Games has for the title. This summer, players will be able to witness the first of the two upcoming DLC called “The Two Colonels” and will let players step into the shoes of Colonel Khlebnikov. The story takes place underneath the dead city of Novosibirsk as the Colonel makes his way home to see his son Kirill for New Year’s Eve.
But all is not well with the people here: the slime is further consuming the tunnels, mutant attacks appear to be on the rise and the precious ‘green stuff’ that protects the people from radiation poisoning is running low. In order to secure the survival of any of the people, those in charge may need to take drastic measures…
Following the journey and experiences of Khlebnikov during the last days of life in Novosibirsk, which Colonel Miller retraces a year later, players can expect the classic story-driven gameplay of the Metro series in this new linear chapter, complete with a brand new weapon, the deadly flame-thrower, claustrophobic environments, and the all-too-familiar hair-raising tension.
The second story is called “Sam’s Story” and is set to arrive sometime early in 2020. This tale will focus on the American US Marine who became trapped after the bombs fell while he was stationed at the Moscow Embassy. When Artyom and the Spartans discovered that Moscow wasn’t alone in the world, the hope of returning home to potentially find his family leads Sam away from the Aurora to Vladivostok in search of a finding a way back to the US. To find the answers he seeks, Sam will need to use every tool and skill he has to survive his new surroundings.
Metro Exodus is available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Are you ready to step into the boots of other characters in the Metro franchise? Are there any other stories you’d like to see told?
