Marvel’s Eternals Trailer Introduces An Immortal Team Of Heroes (VIDEO)

Marvel Studios Eternals

After months of waiting and speculation from fans, Marvel Studios’ long-announced Eternals movie has finally received its first trailer. As seen in the footage below, the upcoming film assembles quite a diverse team of names in adapting the Marvel Comics property, following the immortal ancient visitors across thousands of years on Earth. However, somewhere along the way, a significant threat appears to rear its head, as indicated by the quote, “Throughout the years we have never interfered, until now.”

Based on the limited footage, Eternals appears to be unique and epic in a way not often seen in the vast continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This fact is likely owed to the film’s writer/director Chloé Zhao, who is known for introspective indie releases like Nomadland and The Rider, and more recently for winning Best Director at this year’s Oscars. The movie’s cast is especially dazzling, as it comprises several big-name actors like Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, and Kit Harington just to name a few. A full cast list, via Marvel, can be viewed below.

  • Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris
  • Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi
  • Kumail Nanjiani as cosmic-powered Kingo
  • Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari
  • Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos
  • Salma Hayek as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak
  • Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-soul Sprite
  • Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh
  • Barry Keoghan as aloof loner Druig
  • Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena
  • Additionally, Kit Harington plays Dane Whitman

Though the Eternals aren’t exactly the most well-known property in Marvel Comics lore, the MCU is definitely establishing the team in a big way for its awaited live-action debut. While much of those plans are largely a mystery at this juncture, it appears we can nonetheless expect plenty from Marvel in the meantime as the superhero studio readies upcoming projects like a Loki TV show, sequels for Black Panther and Captain Marvel, as well as a new Anthony Mackie-led Captain America movie.

Marvel Studios’ Eternals is set to release in theaters sometime this November.
