Fans of the popular first person shooter Overwatch enjoy seeing backstories for their favorite heroes and getting to know them on a deeper level. Players see who the characters really are and where they came from in every Overwatch animated short, but unfortunately only a few have been made.

So far we have gotten to know Winston, Widowmaker, Hanzo, Solider 76, Bastion, and Sombra, and even saw a little bit of background for Reaper, Tracer, Genji, and Zarya. The latest, Rise and Shine, features the hero everyone loves to hate: Mei. Let’s face it though, most people only hate her because going up against a Mei, especially if they know what they’re doing, is super frustrating. It’s going to be hard to dislike that chubby little snow angel after you see the new Overwatch animated short below:

In the above Overwatch animated short, viewers get to see a more casual Mei who, let’s face it, is absolutely adorable. She talks into the camera about the group she is with being stuck in a horrible ice storm, which caused them to miss a supply drop and has lead to the team running low on rations. Because of this, her captain is making them hibernate through the storm, but Mei doesn’t seem worried. In fact, she is excited about all the data that will be collected while they sleep.

When Mei awakes and starts going through her morning routine, she checks the data and soon realizes that things are not right and it only goes downhill from there. Upon discovering that she had slept much longer than anticipated, her whole team is dead, and Overwatch has been disbanded, the discovery of a message from Winston calling the team together, gives her the strength to save herself and the world.
