Kim Possible Live Action Movie Reveals First Look At Shego, Dr. Drakken
This is a special shoutout for all you readers out there that still have the iconic “doo doo dee doo” sound as their phone’s notification noise. Earlier this year, Disney announced that a live action Kim Possible movie was in the works, based on the hit television series. Now, fast forward roughly nine months later and we finally have our first look at characters Shego and Dr. Drakken, two of the villainous series mainstays from the cartoon.
The special first look comes from Disney by way of Entertainment Weekly, which revealed a photo of Shego and Dr. Drakken standing next to each other in full costume, which makes it decidedly easy to compare the two with their cartoon versions seen at the top of the page. Check out the first look below:
Seen above, both Shego and Dr. Drakken appear to be a bit different than their cartoon variations, though their outfits are quite plainly an homage to their original looks. Played by Todd Stashwick, Dr. Drakken sports his iconic blue lab coat with black gloves. He also appears to have some blue running up through his neck, something director Zach Lipovsky commented on alongside the release of the above photo. “It’s like he’s got a blue infection within,” Lipovsky revealed. “It’s like some experiment or some dastardly plan went wrong years ago and now he’s got this side effect where he’s got a bluish hue.”
As for Shego, the deadly villain played by Taylor Ortego has her work cut out for her between keeping Dr. Drakken in line and dealing with Kim Possible, who is being played by Sadie Stanley. “Shego is one of the funniest characters from the original show, but she’s also incredibly tough,” revealed co-director Adam B. Stein. “We had to find someone who could be hilarious and pull off the eye rolls and nail filing that Shego’s known for, while still being physically threatening.” Speaking of physically threatening…. “Todd’s really tall,” said Stein. “[in casting], Taylor was the only one who could push him around with just her presence.”
So far the live action Kim Possible movie seems to be shaping up rather nicely. It’ll be interesting to see additional stills as production on the movie continues. The Kim Possible movie is expected to debut in 2019 on the Disney Channel.
