Kevin Feige Confirms Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Will Not Appear in the Venom Movie (VIDEO)

Spider-Man Venom Movie

Ever since the announcement of Sony Pictures’ Venom movie, fans have been wondering if the MCU’s (Marvel Cinematic Universe) version of Spider-Man (played by Tom Holland) will appear in the film. Given that Venom and Carnage are characters that were born within the pages of Marvel’s Spider-Man comics, it seems a rather a fair question. Unfortunately, Marvel boss Kevin Feige has just confirmed that Tom Holland’s Spidey will not make an appearance in the forthcoming movie.

During the red carpet event for the world premiere of Spider-Man: HomecomingFeige was asked about the possible appearance of Holland’s Spider-man in the upcoming Venom movie in which he replied:

No. No, I think the folks there are making a great Venom movie and I don’t know much about it, but I know they’re off to a good start with Tom Hardy.”

Sony Pictures obtained the rights for Spider-Man and all associated characters during the Tobey Maguire days and have maintained those rights ever since. Marvel and Disney had to strike a deal with Sony in order to allow the web-slinger to be a part of the shared world of the MCU. Even though Holland’s Spidey is officially part of the shared universe, other characters from the Spider-Man comics won’t necessarily fit into the equation. That doesn’t completely rule out the possibility of characters such as Venom, Carnage, and even recent fan-favorite Spider-Gwen fighting along side Iron Man and Captain America, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Spider-Man: Homecoming opens July 7 and Venom is expected to release in October 2018. Were you hoping for at least a cameo with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the upcoming Venom movie?
