Iron Fist Has Been Renewed by Netflix for a Second Season

Iron Fist

Marvel has been putting in quite a bit of work at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con, and it is very likely that something bigger is on the way. Up until now, it has mainly been a lot of the action that has been happening on the smaller screen. A new trailer has been released for Inhumans, Stan Lee rolled through NYC has he narrated the incredible stories to come to television from Marvel, and an action-packed look at the upcoming The Defenders dropped last night. The train didn’t stop there, of course. Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel TV, announced that Iron Fist will be returning for a second season on Netflix.

It was also hinted at that Colleen Wing(Jessica Henwick) and NYPD detective Misty Knight(Simone Missick) would be teaming up like they have in the comics before. Misty, of course, was seen in the first season of Luke Cage, while each of them are sure to appear at some point during The Defenders when it arrives on August 18. That will also be the next time we see the Iron Fist, fighting alongside Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage.

Season 1 of Iron Fist saw the return of Danny Rand(Finn Jones) to NYC. He was presumed dead after the jet that was carrying him and his parents crashed years ago. However, that was not the case and close friends Joy and Ward Meachum(Jessica Stroup and Tom Pelphrey, respectively) are a bit hesitant to believe that he is alive when he shows up at the business that is rightfully his. Considering Danny has been living in the secret city of K’un Lun, obtaining the power and title of Iron Fist, some might argue that he is more alive than ever. No details were given as to when the second season would debut, but it might be safe to assume 2018 is a good starting point.
