Hitler in a Mech-Suit – The Ultimate End to a Wolfenstein Trilogy According to Developer
This year’s E3 brought quite a few big announcements. Bethesda Softworks, in particular, brought the announcement of the latest Wolfenstein game “The New Colossus”. Fans of the original games as well as the most recent remakes rejoiced as the clip of an insanity filled world where the Nazis won World War II rolled during the event. New Colossus will take place in a Nazi occupied United States and will continue to follow protagonist BJ Blazkowicz as he aims to tear down the regime. That’s great and all, but where the hell is Hitler in a Mech-Suit?
For those unfamiliar with that question in the classic Wolfenstein games, one of the boss fights was Adolf Hitler in a giant mechanical suit. Seriously. During an interview, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus’ Creative Director, Jens Matthies, was asked about the appearance of Mecha-Hitler. After some chuckles, Matthies explained:
“We always envisioned this as a trilogy. If we get to make the third one–once we introduce Mecha-Hitler, you can’t go up from there.”
Keep in mind that this not a confirmation of a third (or fourth if you count the prequel The Old Blood) entry into the revitalized Wolfenstein franchise. A third game is not currently in development and Bethesda Softworks has not given an official announcement. Matthies expressed that the team envisioned a trilogy, so let’s hope The New Colossus does well enough to promote the ultimate showdown of Blazkowicz versus Mecha-Hitler.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus arrives on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on October 27th. Are you looking forward to the new title? Are you a fan of the classic Wolfenstein games as well as the new? How badly do you want to unload an arsenal of weaponry to destroy Hitler in a Mech-Suit? Let us know in the comments section below.
