Hideki Kamiya Harshly Slams Nintendo Switch Designs

The Nintendo Switch will be three years old in just a few months, and its success so far has been quite a welcome story for Nintendo. Both critics and audiences alike have favorably received the Switch, praising its portability and ease of use. Developers have often been quick to share their favorability for the system’s convenient and development-friendly tools. However, it seems that not everyone has been won over the Switch. Famed Platinum Games director Hideki Kamiya has quite harshly made negative remarks regarding the Nintendo console and its various design aspects.

As reported on Prima Games, Hideki Kamiya recently released a string of tweets on his official Twitter account regarding the Nintendo Switch. Originally posted in Japanese, translations from Nintendo Soup have discerned the tweets as saying, “The Nintendo Switch’s Home Menu is a piece of crap, all of the sh**ty gigantic game icons are lined up in a row, but the rest of the games are tossed into a trash can called ‘All Games’…I wonder have they (the people that made the menu) ever played the Nintendo fan boys’ Switch?”

These are certainly strong words from Kamiya, whose Bayonetta and Astral Chain games have been exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. While not the biggest concern for most, complaints regarding UI choices and the Switch home menu are still nothing new. There’s no telling if Nintendo has plans to alter their console interface, but offering more options would certainly have to be on their radar at this point. Time will tell if this becomes a reality, but for now, fans will have to look at the other Viewtiful benefits that the Switch has to offer as solace.
