Heroes of the Storm Developer Discusses Current State of the Game
It was recently revealed that Blizzard Entertainment had taken a decent amount of the Heroes of the Storm team and placed them on other projects. This may have left fans wondering what was to come of the game, but the studio was quick to reassure everyone that the title will still be supported and receive new content.
That said, production director Kaeo Milker recently posted a statement to the Blizzard website, and they touched on the current state of Heroes of the Storm. While announcing the decision to move part of the team away from the game, it was also revealed that the Heroes Global Championship and Heroes of the Dorm would not be returning in 2019. This was all in the name of providing backup on other Blizzard titles.
“While our extended Blizzard family working on World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Overwatch, and our unannounced projects will be getting an influx of much-needed, extremely talented Heroes devs to help them achieve their goals, it also means that we’ll need to change the cadence of support for Heroes going forward,” Milker said.
He went on to discuss how the game has made improvements in the past year, and while the changes may seem like a blow, they are “continuing to develop the game with an incredible team that has the experience and passion required to support Heroes of the Storm well into the future.” Milker adds that they will now be able to place an even larger focus on taking care of the players and “keeping the game dynamic and fun.”
“This means we’re still committed to regular hero reworks, themed events, and even new heroes,” Milker continues. “We’re setting our sights on the new goals and timelines for what we want to do with the game from here on out and we’re eager to share those plans as soon as they’re finalized.”
