Hellblade II Won’t Be A Direct Sequel, According To Dev (VIDEO)

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was an incredible title that gave fans a look at mental illness from a unique lens as well as providing players with an incredible story. With the upcoming sequel Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, the title is sure to follow in its predecessor’s footsteps by expanding on the already incredible representation and appears as though it will also feature the titular character Senua once again. Now a new trailer has arrived sharing a few minor details surrounding the upcoming sequel including how the game fits into the overall narrative of the series.

While at the extended Xbox Showcase this year, Ninja Theory’s founder, Tameem Antoniades explained the game won’t be a direct sequel, also confirming the game will be set in 9th Century Iceland. He also explained that the team behind Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was taking great care to make the project feel as real as possible. Art and Audio teams were sent to Iceland to gather visual data that allow developers to use large swaths of land as they work on the upcoming sequel, and sounds pulled straight from the environment to help maintain an immersive experience.

The actors are undergoing combat training in order to perfectly capture the movement and action of realistic and brutal fights, while fully-made costumes are being scanned into the project so that they look true to life as well. Due to the intense and grueling development process Ninja Theory is undertaking to ensure the series is done justice, it’s hard to say when fans can expect to see Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. Nevertheless, it’s sure to be quite the spectacle. It’ll be interesting to see what the team comes up with to expand on the impressive work they’ve done, whether it be with portraying a more accurate likeness of mental illnesses or the overall tale they have to tell.
