Black Matter Unveils ‘Hell Let Loose’ With New Reveal Trailer – 100 Player WW2 Battles (VIDEO)

Hell Let Loose

Developer Black Matter is bringing the WWII shooter genre into a new era, placing a heavy emphasis on teamwork, communication, and historical accuracy like never before. With large scale battles, realistic weapons, and vehicles – the game hopes to bring more historical accuracy to the genre than previously seen. The developer recently released their reveal trailer teasing their new project Hell Let Loose, check out the brand new reveal trailer below:

Games have come close to fully recreating the World Wars, the next Call of Duty title being one of the most recent. There’s always been something a little off about the titles which Black Matter hopes to rectify. A majority of the shooters surrounding the horrific World Wars is that they’re too fast, placing an emphasis on individual player abilities and devolving into something of an arcade shooter. With Black Matter’s WWII title, players will find themselves relying on their squads and other allies in order to achieve victory and even just surviving.

You’ve never played World War 2 the way it was meant to be played… with lumbering tanks dominating the battlefield, crucial supply chains fueling the frontlines, being a cog in the machine of colossal combined arms warfare. Hell Let Loose puts you in the chaos of war, complete with deep player-controlled vehicles, a dynamically evolving frontline, and crucial platoon-focused gameplay that commands the tide of battle. This is a simulation of war… not an arcade arena shooter.”

There will be three levels of warfare starting with Strategic, seeing players as a Commander deciding the overall strategy for their side, deploying forces to an ever changing battle. Then comes Operational, which allows players to establish supply lines to troops. Failure to maintain routes will result in catastrophe and devastation. Lastly, Tactical allows players to control an Officer who can establish observation posts and garrisons, decide the best course of action for your unit, and mark enemies with binoculars.

Hell Let Loose focuses not only on the historical command structure but also the weapons and vehicles themselves. In the midst of fighting, players will see weapons jam and overheat. Explosives will dismember enemies and flamethrowers will light up the sky. With 16+ historically accurate assault rifles, submachine guns, light machine guns, and more – players will be able to choose between a large array of weaponry to fight with.

With 100 players fighting across the massive 4km2 maps featuring iconic offensives and battlefields similar to many other WWII titles, however rather than a tug-of-war style frontline, Hell Let Loose will feature one that is ever changing with unique large cap sectors. The maps themselves are 1:1 replicas taken from archival data and images from the war for added historical accuracy. The First Theatre of War fans can expect to see is the Norman countryside during the early weeks of Operation Overlord in 1944.

Games with high historical accuracy have a tendency to be either incredible or fall short of their intended goal. Which will Hell Let Loose be? The WWII title will be arriving for PC sometime in 2018, keep your eyes on DFTG for more info. Let us know your thoughts on Hell Let Loose and the WWII genre of shooter in the comments section below.
