Judge Dredd, Other 2000 AD Games Could Be Announced “In The Next Few Months,” Says Rebellion

Judge Dredd

It’s been 15 years since gamers were treated to a Judge Dredd title in which they could assume the role of the ass-kicking character from 2000 AD comics. The developer behind the game, Rebellion Developments, has been pretty tied up with the Sniper Elite franchise and the upcoming Strange Brigade. That said, Rebellion happens to own the rights to 2000 AD comics, but they haven’t transferred many characters to a playable format.

It looks like all of that could possibly be changing in the near future. Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley recently provided an update for those hoping to see some of their favorite 2000 AD characters brought into the video game realm. “We’ve talked to and we have agreements with a number of different people,” he told VG24/7 during E3.

We haven’t announced anything yet because it’s too early for some of them, but there may be announcements coming in the next few months. That’s very exciting, we have some really cool stuff being worked on.”

In other Rebellion news, Strange Brigade is a co-op third-person shooter that is set to arrive on August 28th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. For more about the upcoming title, here’s a description from the game’s website:

“Egypt, the 1930’s. Erased from ancient history and buried in a nameless tomb for 4,000 years, Seteki the Witch Queen has risen once again. Only one troop of daring heroes can stand against the fearsome power of Seteki and her army of mummified monstrosities: The Strange Brigade!

Explore remarkable ruins, solve perilous puzzles and uncover tantalising treasure while blasting your way through an array of undead enemies in thrilling third-person action that’s certain to bring out your inner adventurer!”

It’s unknown when exactly we’ll be hearing about another Judge Dredd title or other 2000 AD characters coming to video games, but keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops. For other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
