Standalone Han Solo Project Recasts a Role With Member of the Avengers

Standalone Han Solo Project

The solo outing for everyone’s favorite scruffy-looking nerf herder has had a number of changes throughout its production. When everything seemed to be going well from the outside, the directors of the film were abruptly let go. This was due to some creative differences, and by the extensive reshoots that have been happening lately, one would think that contrast was drastic. According to now director Ron Howard, it’s possible that yet another change has come to the Han Solo project in the form of a recast.

The director recently took to Twitter to post a photo from the set of the reshoots. In it, we see Howard and Avengers star Paul Bettany smiling and thrusting a thumb upwards in a fashion that says, “Hey, we’ve got this.” Along with the image, fans got the caption of “The Outer Rim just got a little bit wilder”. For those not in the know, the Outer Rim contains some of the galaxy’s most dubious creatures. Here’s the tweet in question:

It is also good to know that The Wire actor Michael K. Williams was cut from the Han Solo project, likely due to the amount of reshoots that were needed and the fact that his character was a motion-capture alien of sorts. However, what doesn’t cost as much money is putting a live human on the set without the burden of extensive processing that comes with motion capture technology. That’s where Paul Bettany comes into play.

Combine Howard’s caption with the way Paul is dressed and you’ve got the perfect recipe for someone who seems to be an Outer Rim dweller. According to SlashFilm, this is exactly the case. Bettany is assumed to be taking on the role that Williams was playing. Everything will remain the same about the character except for the whole being a human thing. What say you, Star Wars fans? Is it exciting to learn that Paul Bettany just might be on his way to the galaxy far, far away?
