God of War Director Teases Surprise For Game’s First Anniversary

God of War Director Cory Barlog

It can be hard to fathom, but it has been almost one year since the newest God of War game was released. The PS4 exclusive title from Santa Monica Studio proved to not only be a big financial success for Sony’s platform, but also became one of the most highly praised games by critics of 2019, with many calling it Game of the Year. Sadly (or not so sadly, depending on who you ask), the game did not offer any DLC since its release, leaving Kratos fans with only the initial self-contained story. However, the game’s director has promised something for the game’s first anniversary.

Director Cory Barlog recent took to his official Twitter account to acknowledge the new God of War PS4 theme that was released to celebrate the game’s anniversary. Barlog decided to share Sony’s tweet about the theme with a caption saying “That’s not all”, implying a surprise would be coming this week. Barlog then quickly responded to his tweet, reiterating previous statements that the game would not be receiving any DLC ever. Barlog also confirms that he does not know what the Santa Monica team is working on now, but that he wishes the launch of Days Gone on PS4 to go well.

It does not seem likely that the surprise would be for a new God of War game announcement, but perhaps there could be some new merch or a video message from the game’s cast, who have proven to be warm with their public references to the game. Whatever this surprise may end up being, it is nice to see Cory and Sony still keeping God of War fans in mind with their shows of affection for all the BOYs and girls that loved their game.
