It is beginning to look as if our pal Cory Barlog may have concluded his much deserved vacation and his now heading back to the studio to work on what we’re hoping will be God of War 2. A sequel to the award winning revival of the God of War franchise, several new job listings for Santa Monica Studios are now hinting that said sequel will be entering development soon for a potential release on next generation consoles.

The news comes by way of Santa Monica Studios’ careers page, wherein the developer has job listings for all sorts of game development roles ranging from combat design to story-related jobs, many of which suggest that a God of War sequel is in the works. One such job listing is for Senior Combat Design, which asks that candidates “must have knowledge of God of War (2018) and be able to speak in depth about the combat systems, mechanics and enemies.” Other examples can be found as well, like the job listing for a Facial Blend Shape Character Artist that states that “next-gen video game platform experience is desirable.”

On their own, job listings such as these could honestly mean anything, though Sony and Santa Monica Studios would be absolutely bonkers to consider God of War a one-off and pull the plug on what in my opinion was one of the greatest video games of the last decade. Here’s hoping an actual official announcement will be forthcoming.
