Official Game of Thrones Wines Available Online Now Just in Time for Season 7
If you’ve ever sat down to read the books or watch the HBO series, you’ve probably thought(provided you are of legal drinking age), “Damn… I could go for a glass of wine right about now.” Well, you’ve come to the right place. Thanks to Vintage Wine Estates and winemaker Bob Cabral, you’ll now be able to enjoy official Game of Thrones wines inspired by the hit show and books.
Cabral, who has been around and involved in the wine making business since he was a child, also happens to be a fan of the show. In fact, according to the website, he “was challenged to craft wines to match the strength the characters and the terrain of their kingdoms. Bob’s meticulousness and patience has yielded wine that embody the spirit of the HBO® series.” Cabral has developed three different Game of Thrones wines for fans to enjoy. Here they are with each of their appellations, prices, and tasting notes:
2016 Chardonnay, Central Coast ($19.99)
- Enticing aromas of stone fruit and white blossoms lead to a rich, creamy palate of peaches, apricots, tangerine, Meyer lemon, baking spices and honey, balanced by mouth-watering acidity. A touch of oak on the lingering finish.
2014 Red Blend, Paso Robles ($19.99)
- Dark black cherry, brambly blackberry, vanilla and cocoa aromas. Soft, juicy black fruit flavors combine in the mouth with hints of leather and spice. Tannins are round and chewy with a rich, juicy mouthfeel that ends with a warm and spicy toasty, vanilla-laced finish.
2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley ($49.99)
- A delicious nose of blackcurrant, briar and Tahitian vanilla all interwoven through extended aging in the finest French oak barrels. A long and intensely pleasurable finish on the palate, delivers the caress of smooth tannins with a touch of cocoa.
