Fortnite Winter Wonderland: Exploding Presents, New Toys, And More (VIDEO)

Tis the season for Winter-themed gaming events, and the popular online game Fortnite is not one to be left out in the cold. With the new 50 vs 50 battle royale mode revealed, the team over at Epic Games has even more in store for their players to enjoy.

In a recent developer update video, a new look inside exploding presents, new guns, mini bosses and more can all be found as a sneak peek into whats to come. “A Winter Wonderland awaits on the horizon! What can you expect for Save the World? Well, Mini Bosses, to start …” says the tweet, seen below:

The event itself starts on December 14th and will run until mid-to-late January, a specific end date has yet to be specified. Plus, if you watched the video, that Frost Bite Sniper rifle looks all kinds of badass. Speaking of badasses, Epic even talks about one particularly “bulked up badass” that players will need to group up with each other in order to take down. Sounds fun! To learn even more about the upcoming event, including a super secret new snowball gun, there will be a livestream held on the Epic Games Twitter on December 13th.

In case you missed the news about 50 vs 50:

How does it work?
Just load up Battle Royale and select the 50v50 playlist. You can jump into the mode solo or with up to three friends. Once the Battle Bus gets flying, you’ll see your squad on the map and communicate like a normal squad/duo match. You’ll also see green markers on the map and above the heads of the remaining 50-player team. The circle closes in. Last team standing wins.

Are there any special rules?

  • Friendly Fire Off (But you will still see hit indicators.)
  • Limited visibility of non-squad teammates.
  • Squad VoIP only.
  • You can revive ANY friendly teammates.
  • You won’t see non-squad teammates until you land

So what do you think about the Wintery paradise? What else would you like to see come to the popular online game? Sound off with your thoughts on Epic Games, and more, in the comment section below – and don’t forget to check us out over on Twitter for gaming and entertainment news live 24/7!
