Former BioWare GM Announces Humanoid Studios, New IP In The Works

BioWare

Casey Hudson left BioWare towards the end of last year, ending his second stint at the company when he took over the general manager position from Aaryn Flynn. The former GM was a large part of the studio’s variety of titles including Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3. While the developer’s exit may have been a bit of a shock, it appears Hudson wasn’t out of the game for too long. The creator is back under a new banner, a studio led by Casey Hudson himself.

Announced in a recent tweet, the former BioWare GM revealed Humanoid Studios, a new development studio built upon the idea of “hiring great people, empowering them with the best tools and a supportive environment,
and providing them the creative freedom to do their best work,” as per the company’s website. According to Hudson, the team already has a new IP in the works as well, though, sadly there’s no information regarding what exactly the project is.

The Humanoid Studios website may not provide much detail, but the site shows a variety of listings posted for positions such as a Senior Gameplay Programmer, Senior Gameplay Designer, Environment Artist, and more. The listings mention that the title will be “an immersive new universe of story, character, and discovery,” so even at the vaguest of the direction, the upcoming project does seem quite intriguing.

It’ll be interesting to see what the former general manager of BioWare and his team will cook up with this new studio.
