‘Fist Of The North Star’ Could Be Seeing A Western Release (VIDEO)
Popular PlayStation 4 game ‘Fist of the North Star’ may be getting a Western release. Released earlier this year exclusively in Japan by the team behind the Yakuza games, localization of Fist of the North Star appears to be something Sega has taken an interest in. Here’s the Fist of the North Star PS4 announcement trailer for those wondering what the game is all about:
After the Western release of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, the publisher sent out a survey for fan feedback. Towards the end of the survey participants were asked, “While no localization has been announced at this time, how interested are you in the First of the North Star game created by the developers of Yakuza?” While the survey question isn’t entirely indicative of localization for the game, the fact that the question was on there suggests that Sega is looking into making it happen.
Originally a manga series that ran from 1983 to 1988, Fist of the North Star featured a warrior named Kenshiro living in the 1990s, after a nuclear war wiped out most of humanity. Kenshiro practices the deadly martial art form known as Hokuto Shiken, which he uses to protect the innocent. Think Mad Max, but with lots of punching. The game itself seems like a lot of fun, blending stylized animation with over the top gameplay and quirky mini-games. Here’s hoping that Sega gets the feedback it needs to bring Fist of the North Star to the West.
