Japanese Blogger Plays Final Fantasy XIV with Father – Inspires Live-Action TV Drama

The Final Fantasy series has always been a source of great inspiration across the internet. From the wonderful fan-art that has sprung from the depths of virtually every entry in the series, to the touching stories we have uncovered featuring gamers going above and beyond to take part in the beautiful worlds that Square Enix has created for us – this fantastical world has a lot of inspiration to give. Now, in a surprising turn of events, Final Fantasy XIV has inspired a live-action TV drama titled “Final Fantasy XIV: Daddy of Light.” We’ll let that sink in for a second.

According to Model Press, the new TV drama is set to debut on Japanese TV in April 2017 and it will revolve around the bond that develops between a son and his father while they play Final Fantasy XIV. The entire premise is based on a series of blog posts from the son which you can find here, chronicling the time he spends in-game with his 60-year-old father, and the show will also include scenes from within the game itself, presumably showing off their many adventures. Actors Ren Osugi and Yudai Chiba will play the father and son, respectively.

What do you think of the premise of “Final Fantasy XIV: Daddy of Light”? Will you be tuning in? Let us know in the comments section below, and as always, stay tuned to DFTG for all your gaming news!
