Final Fantasy VII Remake Will Debut More Shinra Characters At TGS 2019

The Final Fantasy VII Remake footage revealed at E3 2019 was undeniably impressive, showing off new footage of Cloud, Aeris, and Barrett, along with our very first look at fan favorite character Tifa Lockhart. While the footage was quite frankly more than I was personally expecting to see, it barely showed us any of the villains from the game, with the brief exception of Sephiroth. Thankfully, it appears that the folks at the Shinra Electric Company won’t be shrouded in shadows for much longer, as Square Enix plans to release new footage of the characters at Tokyo Game Show 2019.

The news comes by way of a new issue of Weekly Famitsu (reported by Gematsu), in which Final Fantasy VII Remake game director Tetsuya Nomura revealed that the footage set to be unveiled at TGS 2019 will feature “characters from the Shinra side.” Whether or not this means that we’ll simply get a look at Rufus, Hojo, and more footage of the higher-ups remains to be seen, though it is very likely that we’ll finally get our first look at the beloved members of The Turks.

Another alternative is that Square Enix plans on unveiling new Shinra characters that didn’t fit into the original game. The Final Fantasy VII Remake takes place completely within Midgar’s walls and is considered a full-length game, so it is very possible that The Turks roster may be filled out to help compensate for the changes.

Final Fantasy Remake launches exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on March 3rd, 2020. Our own Hoi Duong’s first impressions for the game can be read right here.
