Final DOOM II Secret Discovered After 24 Years

Final DOOM II Secret Discovered After 24 Years

Anyone that has seen Ready Player One can tell you that the first ever easter egg in a video game was in ‘Adventure,’ a title released back in 1979, so, easter eggs and secrets have been in video games for a very long time. The DOOM series spans back, well, not that far back, but long enough that someone discovering a secret in one of the earlier games in the franchise nowadays is a huge deal, and that is exactly what happened, with someone finding a secret in DOOM II.

A YouTuber that goes by the name of Zero Master has discovered the final DOOM II secret, hitting 100% completion of the game for the first time without the use of cheats. The achievement was revealed by none other than DOOM co-creator John Romero, who tweeted out a clip of Zero Master discovering the secret, alongside a congratulatory message.

Shown in the video above, the last secret has of course been found before, though fans that have played through DOOM II have yet to naturally discover the secret until now. To do so, Zero Master had to bait an enemy into a certain area of level 15 – which was designed and created by John Romero – and have the enemy knock him into the secret, which is what got him to 100% completion.

It is honestly mind boggling to know that there are still some secrets out there that have yet to be found in titles this old, and thanks to developers nowadays, there will be no shortage of easter eggs and secrets in the future.
