Far Cry 6 Trailer Introduces Protagonist Dani Rojas, Release Date Revealed (VIDEO)
Months after the last proper announcement, Ubisoft has finally revealed new footage regarding its “Ubisoft Original” open-world shooter Far Cry 6. Presenting the Caribbean island nation of Yara, the new showcase reintroduces players to Giancarlo Esposito’s iron-fisted Presidente Anton Castillo and his son Diego, while now also bringing some extended focus to the game’s player-character and revolutionary Dani Rojas.
Playable as either a male or female, Dani is shown to join the ranks of Yara’s underground guerilla movement to violently remove El Presidente from power, taking them on a journey from a military dropout to carrying the torch of liberation. As one might expect with Far Cry 6, it looks like players will be challenged to make do with the island’s varyingly available resources, strategically taking down enemy forces, and encountering a number of colorful characters along the way, which includes the gloriously chaotic guerrilla engineer Juan Cortez.
From the looks of things, Dani Rojas appears to be an interesting protagonist and is definitely a welcome change of pace from the more-or-less silent protagonist of Far Cry 5. Undoubtedly due to pandemic-related delays, very little had been revealed about Far Cry 6 in the last several months, with previous coverage amounting to initial gameplay details and the bevy of special editions and pre-order bonuses set to release with the title. However, with development now in a more comfortable place, it looks like fans can now expect the game to finally release this coming October.
Far Cry 6 releases for PC, Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on October 7th.
What do you think? Are you excited to lead Dani Rojas to Yara’s revolution in Far Cry 6, or are you just in it for the loveable wiener dog Chorizo?
